Last year I attended Mad Monster in Charlotte, NC. One of the fans that came out to visit with me was a man named Rick Adkins. He is a KISS fan, but more importantly, he is a father. He told me about his son, Trevor, who was in the Army, and was killed in Iraq. I was heartbroken to hear his story. Rick gave me one of Trevor's Purple Heart lapel pins to remember him by. It blew my mind that he gave this to me. I am truly honored.
I recently returned to Mad Monster in Charlotte, and Rick came back to visit with me again this year. He noticed that I have been wearing Trevor's Purple Heart pin. I have worn it to all my appearances and events since he gave it to me, including last year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and cancer benefits. I wear it to remind me of Trevor, Rick, and all of the families that sacrifice so much for us. I am honored to have been a part of your lives, and I am truly grateful for what you have done and continue to do for all of us. You are in my prayers. The KISS Army is KISS family, and I love you, I thank you, and God bless you. -Peter Criss
